  1. Food manufactures often don't participate in social media and I think that they could inform there customers on the latest deals and if customers have any questions they could answer them. Some places could maybe have a Facebook page or twitter just for work colleagues so that they can communicate with each other outside of work, it would be helpful if you didn't know what time you were working and they put up a weekly roster. For some business's it may make there customers feel more involved in whats going on and influence them to purchase there product more because of there involvement to the community.

  2. National security don't normally use social media. They could use social media when there is a immanent threat to society or if people wanted to know what they do and/or how to get into career paths. It could ease public speculation about what they do, which means they could be better informed and could get any immanent threat messages out quicker and with a wider audience.

  3. Home contents manufactures do not normally use social media to advertise there company. For example Harvey Norman may be advertising there sale on withers candles but in reality it would be cheaper for us to buy the candles from withers and they would earn more money.

  5. Old businesses may not have online and social media based advertising because they may believe that because there old advertising ways worked so well they may keep it like that. If they did use online advertising with their old ways they should have some more potential customers, using Facebook or other social media content to connect and communicate outside of work would make discussing due date projects easier rather than continuously rushing to finish things at there work place.

  6. Stores that interest old people (Antique Stores, Old CD store etc.) don't really use social media, because the people they want to get to don't use social media as much as others and some don't use it at all.

  7. Editors are less likely to participate in social media. If they became more active in the social world then this could help them to get more recognition, and also it could help them to possibly get more editing jobs. This may also benifit them by being able to check out their opposition. Social media could let the editor keep in touch with the writer while the editor is checking it. This would also benifit the editor by making sure they dint miss out on any valuble things citzens may have to say.

    2. One industry that does not typically participate in social media is the construction industry. Have you ever seen a post from your neighbourhood contractor for new home construction, roofing repair, demolition or simply adding on a new room? I have unfortunately found way too many flyers in my mailbox and they just end up in the recycling. According to www.socialnomics the construction industry is way behind when it comes to getting in touch with the locals. A good way to get the local's attention is to promote their business on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and other social media sites with daily posts of the great work they are accomplishing. This would enable potential customers to see the construction firsthand. If they were impressed the news would spread and this would lead to the expansion of the business.

  9. Some words about social media that I now understand:
    1. crowdsourcing: looking for people online who are willing to contribute their ideas and opinions to websites about particular things.
    2. dual screening: to be online with an electric device while watching television.
    3. lurker: someone who observes and reads other peoples messages online, but does not often participate in discussion themselves.

  10. From what I know in South Africa, libraries do not use social media very much. It would improve their business if they took part in it more, because they could then take requests from members of the library and they could hear about new books as soon as they come out and get them to the library sooner. It would also be helpful if people could go onto a website to see what books are currently available in the library, and which ones are being borrowed.

  12. Architects and interior designers to promote their business generally don't use social media and instead use magazines sold in stores. I think that their businesses would be improved by using social media such as: Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. This would help improve the amount of people around the world more aware of these great businesses and potentially get more customers.

  13. I don't tend to see many bakeries using social medias much.
It could help business as customers could ask what products are in stock/been made and order if they haven't been.
It could also improve the rating of the establishment as customers could rate products, give feedback and possibly recommend products.

  14. Companies that have been around for awhile tend not to use social media. Also small companies tend not to use social media, not because they don't want to maybe its just because the cant afford to. Using social media could increase the number of costumers, and if people are trying to find jobs they can just see if anyone is hiring.

  15. Architects and designers/interior designers don"t tend to use social media when it comes to marketing. They usually tend to show case their products in magazines and pamflets sold in stores. Social media... such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even ads on the TV would help growth spread through out the country. It would provide information for the consumers such as ratings, recommended products and given feed back by previous customers.

  16. These days just about every job uses social media in one way or another, although some businesses don't. Often companies where there is only one around the world such as dairies, small shops or small take aways don't usaully use social media. To be honest i don't think they should use social media because they're so small if there's only two or four it you'll probably have to travel far to get there and you probably wouldn't go far away just to go to a dairy in auckland when there's a different dairy just up the road.

  17. Farmers would benefit a lot by using social media, as they would be able to share techniques and tips very easily all around the world. Sharing things like videos and posts on Facebook, a website or Blog would give other people that may not be farmers tips for their vegetable gardens at home. They would be able to teach lots of new farmers as well, so that the future farming industries can produce the healthy, beautiful crops that we have today.
